Good organizing products that are inexpensive are hard to find. I found 4 of my favorites at Marshalls the other day and some were on clearance.

After my two son’s basketball games today we stopped at Marshall’s to do a little shopping. I don’t go to Marshalls that often but as I walked around I realized it is a GREAT place to shop when you are in need of organizing products!

Baskets

These baskets are awesome. They are not wicker, though they look like it. They are sort of a plastic feel and can be wiped out with a rag. I love the stainless handle. I use them in pantries, closets, bathrooms, etc. These were on clearance, too!

Here is what a set of them look like.

Hangers

If you haven’t tried velvet hangers you really ought to. They keep your clothes ON the hanger! No slipping and falling to the ground. And, they are slim so they don’t take up a lot of room. Look at all the fun colors!

Dividing Racks

I love metal organizing racks like this. They are very sturdy. Place them in your cabinets and stand up your cookie sheets, cutting boards, larger Tupperware lids, muffin tins and platters. Use vertical space by standing those items up in this rack rather than stacking them. And, for only $6.99!

Boxes

Having an inbox is a necessity in every home. Do you have one? These boxes would be perfect. All incoming mail and papers go directly into the inbox until they are processed. Place your inbox, with the lid OFF, where paper typically piles up and start putting ALL paper into it. Process paper DAILY so that it doesn’t build up and overwhelm you. Learn more about overcoming paper clutter through my PAPER BLISS step-by-step program (use coupon code BLISS to receive 50% off).

Distractions

While walking through Marshall’s I get easily distracted and am tempted to purchase pretty things that might end up being ….da, da, da, dum…CLUTTER!

Don’t do it. Go in with a plan and walk out with only what you had on your list. Make a list or take a photo of something you are tempted to buy but don’t buy it today! Wait 24 hours or more and go back only after:

  • First, know that you really NEED it
  • Then, know where you will STORE it
  • Finally, know what you will REMOVE from your home to make room for it!

Here are a few things that distracted me…

I love this color blue! I want to redo something in my house just so I can use this blue. This colander is way too small, I already have a colander that works and I really don’t want to find a place to store another one so I didn’t buy it.

Don’t you hate how your avocados turns gross greeny-brown in an instant? I saw this avocado holder! WOW. It keeps them from getting discolored. And, it is only $3. BUT, remember, if it isn’t on the list, don’t get it. Plus, I’d have to store it, remember to use it, and get rid of one thing from my house if I buy it. I didn’t buy it.

My brother’s avocado storage tip

Press cling wrap onto the surface of the avocado – whether it is guacamole in a dish or half of an avocado – and it will not turn colors! It works. But most of the time I just eat the entire avocado at one time (I mix it with salsa) so I rarely have to use this trick. But, I digress…
