Now, on to 10 of my favorite non-organizing products…

Natural deodorant

I originally saw this deodorant  on Shark Tank and it has become a favorite. I was having a problem with regular deodorant smelling sour half way through the day so I was searching for something different. At first it was weird rubbing it on by hand but I love it now and prefer it over stick deodorant.

Sparkling Water

It took a little work but I acquired a taste for sparkling water. I drink one can, every once in a while, as an afternoon treat. This is my favorite flavor. I love lime and coconut also.

Laundry Smelling Goodness

My friend’s clothes always smell amazing. I wanted mine to smell amazing and they do when I use this. It’s better than liquid fabric softener because it doesn’t leave a build-up of blue goop in the dispenser.

Nespresso coffee

I drink Nespresso coffee in the morning. Nespresso is a brand of machine and coffee capsules. It produces a shot of coffee with crema on the top. My favorite flavor of capsule is Arpeggio. I froth my milk in their aeroccino milk frother. Here is a great combo of the coffee/espresso machine and aeroccino milk frother.

This is exactly what I do: I make two lungo shots (the largest option of espresso shot) into a coffee cup using one capsule for each shot. I fill the aeroccino machine with whole milk (our family drinks whole milk) to the top fill line. Using the “less foam” attachment I push the start button and it froths and heats my milk perfectly. I combine the milk and coffee into my favorite cup (linked below) and enjoy.

It is very similar to a Flat White at Starbucks which is what I would order at Starbucks…unless I’m making a sugar exception and decide to splurge on a Venti Iced Carmel Macchiato.

This Insulated Cup

I fell in love with these when I gave one to my husband. I ended up using it until the lid would no longer stay on. My son has since gotten me two that I use. I’d pick one that makes you happy when you look at it. They have everything from Disney princesses, to college teams, to this one if you like yellow!

Bluetooth AirPods

I have these Apple AirPods and LOVE them. I use them almost every day. We have an older car which doesn’t have bluetooth so I use them to listen to podcasts when I’m going to and from clients’ homes. I also use them around the house to do work (dusting, cooking, laundry, cleaning) while listening to podcasts, music, or recorded calls on my computer.

This Fasting Book

It seems like intermittent fasting (IF) is the thing right now. I wanted to learn more and have heard very good things about Dr. Jason Jung. Although I haven’t done an extended fast, the book is informative and enlightening. It has recipes and personal stories. Dr. Jung specializes in diabetes and said he had hardly any training in medical school about nutrition or diet. So interesting.

Lemon Tart

I love anything citrus, key lime, or lemon. A neighbor made this and brought it to a gathering and it was amazing! She shared the recipe and I made it for my daughter’s 16th birthday instead of a cake. I decorated it with mint leaves and limes (because I ran out of lemons).I share 10 of my favorite non-organizing products - products around food, laundry, beauty, books, etc...And Lemon Tarts!

Here’s the recipe.

1 graham cracker pie crust

(OR make the crust using 7 graham crackers pulsed to fine crumbs in food processor and mixed with 3 T melted butter and 1 T brown sugar. Press it into 9 in tart pan and bake for 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.)

Pour 1/3 cup water into saucepan and sprinkle 1 envelope unflavored gelatin over water. Let sit 2 minutes to soften. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until dissolved. Cool.

Whisk together in medium bowl:

  • 1 – 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/4 cups plain yogurt
  • 2 t finely grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice

Gradually add the gelatin mixture to the lemon mixture. Pour into crust. Refrigerate until set, at least 3 hours or up to one day. Decorate with mint leaves and lemon slices.

I think my neighbor said the original recipe was from weight watchers but I couldn’t find it online. I’ve changed it here slightly. You could use fat-free milk and yogurt if you wanted to reduce fat content.

Mason Jars

I am obsessed with making mason jar salads for my lunches each week. They’ll last in the refrigerator for a whole week! Use widemouth 16-ounce jars like these and salads following this video from Jen at How Jen Does It. She has a grilled chicken mason jar salad recipe, too.

I also have this post – How to Organize Your Pantry Using Jars – where I show the details of organizing a drawer in my pantry using mason jars.

This Hair Spray

I have very thin, fine hair and it falls flat and straight immediately if I don’t have product in it. Using just the tiniest amount of this hairspray works wonders! It’s kind of like cement so if you needed to keep your hair perfectly for an event, kid’s dance competition or up-do I think it would be great, too.

I’d love for you to share a favorite product or two of yours in the comments. I’m always looking for tried and true favorites.

And a bonus…

This book and this one, and this one will always be favorites of mine because they inspired and comforted me a few years ago during some challenging times.
