If you want to get your home and life organized and are looking for a book to read, here are 5 organizing books I recommend.
Read one of the books I recommend and then join me as we IMPLEMENT it in Organized Life Academy! Yes, it is about the steps to get organized, but more than that it is ALL about the mindset.
ALL about what you are believing about yourself,
How you think about your own abilities,
And if you are equipped with the tools to manage your thoughts and change the beliefs keeping you stuck.
Organized Life Academy will not only help you with the practical but will also equip you with the mindset needed to create lasting change.
5 Organizing Books I Recommend
These are the 5 books I would recommend if you want to read a book about organizing.
(This post does include Amazon links.)
It’s All Too Much
Remember the host of the show Clean Sweep? And then he was Oprah’s regular guest? Peter Walsh is a gem. I was able to interview him on my podcast back in 2014. (He actually answered the phone when I called to ask if he’d do an interview.) This book helps you answer the question, “What Is the vision for the life I want to live?” Then, it shows you how to begin the process of creating this life by evaluating items based on if they are adding to the quality of your life or not? Order here.
The House That Cleans Itself
We also interviewed Mindy on our podcast in 2014. She is mostly a fiction author who struggled with keeping a clean house. This book “takes on the reasons behind chronic messiness and why ordinary home-organization books won’t work.” She teaches you how to set up a home so efficiently and logically that It seems to clean Itself. As a Christian author she also brings a spiritual perspective. Order here.
ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life
You might be seeing a theme…Judith Kolberg was on our podcast, too. Unfortunately the podcast isn’t around any longer. But this book is.
Judith and her coauthor Dr. Kathleen Nadeau, renowned ADHD clinical psychologist, have just revised the book. If you have ADD, or even if you don’t but find yourself easily distracted, this book has insight and solutions for organizing digital information, managing distractions, organizing finances, and coping with the “black hole” of the Internet. Order here.
The Paper Solution
Yes, we interviewed Lisa, too. Although her book is new. She is full of energy. She says in the book that 85% of our paper can be tossed. How do we decide what 15% to keep and how do we keep it organized? She shares her solutions to these paper problems in the book. Order here. Read three things you should stop doing immediately to organize your paper here.
The Home Edit
Everyone needs one book full of dreamy pictures and #housegoals so I’m including this one for that purpose. I love the show on Netflix. Clea and Joanna are funny. They make a space look amazing with their superior containing and styling skills. Order here. And book #2 and the workbook.
Those are 5 organizing books I recommend but what I recommend even more is…
Organized Life Academy
Organizing comes down to a few skills.
- Decision making
- Follow through
In Organized Life Academy we learn and practice these skills each month, one area at a time, fully supported by myself (a 13 year professional organizer and certified life coach) and others in the community. We have live coaching calls every week, office hours, social hour, questions answered, an active, loving community where members are posting pictures and wins and asking questions. I send weekly emails keeping you on track and often include videos of me organizing the space we are working on.
But best of all, each week I teach you the mindset. How do you create an “organized mind?” This is the secret to creating an organized life and home!
